1) Tell us something about yourself that your fans may not know.

A: I’m not sure if they know that I’m probably more into R&B then I am into rap and I listen to that more on my spare time then I do rap haha.

2) How did you get into making music?

A: To be honest I didn’t want to be a rapper I wanted to be a hype man and / or like a manager but I didn’t understand rappers don’t just “hire” hype man it’s usually they close homie or some one in they camp that really knows there music you know. Then all the artists I wanted to manage got into legal trouble so that idea was out the door and my boy B Slimm ( E40’s nephew ) was like you should just try rapping yourself and I didn’t have the patience to write at the time I was 20 years old and I expressed that to him and he was like well just try and I was like fuck it! My first rap I wrote to day dreaming by lupe fiasco and I uploaded that bitch to MySpace and over time I kinda just fell in love with the process. That music quality was terrible haha.

3) What's it like being an independent artist and having to get support from bigger artists on your own?

A: Early on it was definitely tough but I’ve kinda been doing this for a little bit of time so I’ve gained some very solid relationships in the industry and I’ve been blessed to work with some of the biggest artist out honestly so the fact that I have done that also opens a few more doors for me but any independent artist is going to face those obstacles and I would just tell them honestly fuck with who fucks with you and build off that don’t chase that big feature let it find you.

4) How has being from California had an impact on your music style?

A: It definitely has an impact on my style but I feel like people associate California with LA & The Bay and not the cities in between that it’s really made of. I get obviously since I’m not far from LA I'm going to get categorized as that but I think my perspective growing up not being from LA is my best trait cause I didn’t necessarily grow up in the “streets” lol but still in a bad area so I feel like myself and other artists from the IE speak from that lens and it’s refreshing.

5) Who are some of your favorite people you've worked with?

A: Man Sonny Digital, Quavo, Eric Bellinger, Ty Dolla Sign, iamsu!, Zoey Dollaz, Audio Push, Mike & Keys man I’ve been lucky to with a lot of dope people.

6) What's been the most memorable moment of your career so far?

A: Probably doing the record with Quavo in Atlanta in 2017 and being on the Power 106 Power house concert that year which is like LA’s summer jam that has to be the most memorable year of my career for sure.

7) If you could only have 1 feature for the rest of your life, who would it be?

A: Drake easily! Everything he does is timeless and he’s the biggest artist of this generation. I consider him the biggest because when I fell in love with it he was just starting too. I was more into sports growing up so my music knowledge was piss poor lol but when I started getting into it and learning the game I was watching him and now he’s unstoppable so for sure it would have to be a record with him! You’ll be a legend forever if you got that feature!

8) Did you play any sports growing up, if so, which ones?

A: My first love is Basketball I played that since like 5 years old and after high school I was a high school basketball official so I’ve always been a real advocate for the game I have so many friends and connections from that game, shit even my competitive spirit comes from that. I played other sports in elementary but basketball I played up until I finished high school.

9) Do you see a connection between music and sports?

A: Yeah so many connections between sports and music. If you want to do either or professionally or at a very high level it takes a tremendous level of hard work and dedication and a whole lot of practice! Then you got the TEAM aspect that’s very present in the music industry no one makes it in this industry with out a strong team around them and that’s a fact! And there’s so many more similarities I could elaborate on but I think ya'll get it haha.

10) What's next for Flip Major?

A: More new music! More videos ( when we allowed to get out the house and shoot them ) but just more content weekly from me wether it’s music a project a video something is coming from me for the people to get to know me more.

11) What are your plans for 2020?

A: My plans for 2020 is to be consistent. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to do that. I make a lot of music and sit on it for too long this year I’m not over thinking anything and just releasing specially with this whole pandemic going on people are listening to more music and maybe giving more artists a listen, and I think once this fixation with IG lives dies down people will be even listening more Hahahaha I released an EP in March I’m going to drop another this month maybe just drop an EP every month until the years up or a song a week. Either way I just want to release and put out as much music as I can.
