Francesca Louise
1) What's something about yourself that fans might not know?
A: I am a HUGE Friends fan and quote them constantly, and apply the script to things that happen throughout my day.
2) What is your creative process like?
A: The interesting thing about my creative process, that has only recently began to change, is that a song I have written tends to have come from events that unfolded months before. More recently I find it hard to write about things happening around me in the moment. I have to allow all that has happened to absorb - I sit with it for a while before writing.
3) What was the idea behind your latest release For Michael?
A: A very close family friend passed away unexpectedly and I wrote this song a while after he passed, once I was able to sit with all that had happened and begin my healing process.
4) What's one artist you would love to collaborate with and why?
A: I would love to collaborate with Laura Marling. Her songwriting is so raw and honest and she doesn’t follow a typical song structure - she writes as she feels and embraces that! Her guitar playing is so emotionally charged and her lyrics really tell a story and there aren’t any vague images or polished scenes, it is all very real and honest.
5) How do you feel the internet has impacted the music business?
A: The internet gives artist like me the opportunity to put my music out into the world for people to discover and enjoy and relate to - but because the internet is so accessible now, it has never been harder to get your music heard. These two opposite points have been fighting with each other more and more as the internet grows and our lives have become far more concentrated around social media so the traffic on streaming platforms is HUGE and so competitive. Ask me again in 10 years time and we will see which point outweighs the other! haha.
6) What's next for you as an artist?
A: I will be releasing more music this year so keep your eyes and ears open for more from me! I have some great creative collaborations due and some really exciting live shows this year as well so I am looking forward to what is coming.
